Melissa Stockton, 33, of West Chesterfield, NH, passed away on February 2, 2017, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worchester, MA.
Missy loved to help others. She was an LNA studying to be and LPN/RN. She enjoyed volunteering at Stoddard Soup Kitchen, Keene Human Society, and helping at Rebecca Montrone Wondrous Roots in Keene.
Missy enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowshoeing, belly dancing, guitar, painting, gardening and enjoyed her two dogs, Moxie and Deanna. Missy entered 5K road races that would benefit others.
Missy battled everyday with her mental illness and was trying to participate in life despite her struggles. She was an advocate for making society more aware of the struggles people suffering with mental illness have.
Born on September 8, 1983, at Brockton Hospital in Brockton, MA, she moved to Claremont in 1986.
She went to school at St. Mary’s, Stevens, Cedar Crest in Allenstown, PA, River Valley Community College, and Granite State College.
The family includes her mom, Deborah Ann Stockton and her friend, Michael Paulette of Claremont; her sister, Katherine Stockton of East Boston, MA; her brother, Robert Stockton and his fiancé, Flecia of Springfield, VT; her maternal grandparents, Patricia and Girard Blanchette of Brockton, MA; her niece, Sophia and her mother, Amelia and her nephew, Thomas; her boyfriend, Chris Sheerman of Unity; sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Jr. and her paternal grandparents, Mary and Thomas Stockton Sr.
Missy was a generous donor of her organs, helping numerous people.
A celebration of life will be held at her parents’ home in the spring.
The Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
