John Lucien Ferland, 77, of Claremont, NH passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Concord Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in North Troy, VT, on May 28, 1939 the son of Alexis and Blanche (Lamouthe) Ferland. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1958. He had served in US Air Force. Lucien had worked at Joy Manufacturing in Assembly for 25 years and had retired from Sturm Ruger. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. He had gone to Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife and listening to country music. He had been a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. His family includes his wife, Barbara of 52 years, his two sons, Stephen Ferland and his wife, Cheryl and Kevin Ferland all of Claremont; one grandson, Garrett Ferland of Portland, Maine; one sister, Georgette Theroux; four brothers, Henry Ferland and his wife, Josephine, George Ferland and his wife, Nat, Larry Ferland and Marcel Ferland also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Andre Ferland and Roland Ferland and three sisters, Lucienne LeBlanc, Dolores Faucher and Angelina Buzzell. Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday, August 21st, from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home on Monday morning at 11 AM with Father George Majka officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will be held at the CSB Community Center from 12 – 2 PM.
