Evangeline M. (Couture) Lambert passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, after a brief illness.
She was born on July 3, 1925, to Auguste and Leona (Bonneau) Girard. Vangie married Robert O. Couture on June 9, 1945, and they had many happy years together until his passing on September 18, 1978. Vangie continued to work in Shamburg, IL, as a traffic manager until her retirement and then she moved back to Claremont to be near her family and friends where she met and married Raymond Lambert some years later. They enjoyed years together traveling, and pursuing their hobbies until his passing. Vangie was a skilled quilter, knitter and enjoyed playing Mar Jong. She loved teaching quilting and volunteered her time to charities.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Amidon, her husband Fred, her granddaughter Raquel Chase-Kelly and her husband John, her grandson Thomas LaFountain, one brother Donald Girard (Carol) and sister Florine Breault, great grandchildren Graham Kelly, Claire Kelly and Aria LaFountain and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula LaFountain, brothers Herman Girard, Leon Girard and Clement Girard.
A graveside service will be held in the spring and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Valley Humane Society or St. Judes Hospital.
The Stringer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
