Margaret Louise Deyo, 95, of Claremont, NH, died at home on January 12, 2022, following a period of declining health. She was born in Woodstock, VT, on July 25, 1926, the only child of Leodina (Lacasse) Gaudreau and Antonio Gaudreau.
The family later moved to Claremont, where she was raised. Her mother died while she was a teen and her father was later remarried to Corinne (Rushia) Gaudreau. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation, she met her future husband, Louis L. Saucier, and they were married on February 9, 1946. They went on to make their home and raise five children in Claremont.
In 1962, Margaret and Louis started their own real estate business, Saucier Realty, in Claremont. They owned and operated the business until retiring in 1990. In addition, they owned and managed several rental properties in the city. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage until Louis passed away in 1990.
When her children were younger, the family enjoyed many winter school vacations in Florida, often accompanied by her children’s friends. During the summer months, the family enjoyed visits to the Maine coast. Margaret was truly the matriarch of her family. She was supportive of all her children and grandchildren’s endeavors. She was a source of comfort during difficult times and their biggest advocate during good times. Later in life she faithfully attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader. She met, and later married, Lawrence Deyo in 1994. They enjoyed several winters in New Smyrna Beach until his passing in 2007.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her half brother Charles Rushia, her son James Saucier, and companion Norman Bunnel.
She is survived by her son Richard Saucier of Tucson, AZ, son Dennis Saucier and wife Bonita of Winter Springs, FL, son Stephen Saucier and wife Joanie of Raleigh, NC, and daughter Jean Lucarelli and husband Jeffrey of Claremont, NH.
