Donald Kingman Ellsworth, the son of Neil and Ella Ellsworth, was born in Woburn, MA. He grew up in Burlington, MA, and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, he joined Massachusetts Electric, where he spent his entire career. He moved from Andover, MA, to Claremont in 2013.
Married to Donna Cameron Ellsworth for 61 years, he will be missed by his three children, Mary Lownie of Claremont (Ken), Diane Mello (Rob) and David Ellsworth (Nicole Ducey), and his grandchildren Cameron, Betsy, Christina, Oliver, and Harrison.
Prior to moving to Claremont, Don and Donna were members of West Parish Church in Andover for more than 50 years, where he filled many leadership roles. Upon relocating to Claremont, they became members of the First Congregational Church of Claremont. Don also continued his membership in Kiwanis International; He was a regular participant in the Claremont Kiwanis Club’s weekly card game. In addition to volunteering for The Samaritans and Habitat for Humanity, he was a passionate fisherman, an avid gardener, and he enjoyed skiing and tennis; he was also nearly unbeatable at cribbage, bridge, hearts, and other card games. His favorite place to be on earth was the Ellsworth family “camp” on Lake Winnisquam in NH with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Claremont, NH on April 23rd at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Claremont, 72 Pleasant Street, Claremont, NH 03743.
