CHARLESTOWN, NH—On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 2, 2019, the Charlestown Police Department requested that the Charlestown Middle School, Charlestown Primary School and the North Charlestown Community School be placed on a shelter in place status, reported Chief Patrick Connors. “We also requested that the Fall Mountain High School hold buses headed to Charlestown at their dismissal. These were precautionary measures that we took to ensure out students’ safety,” he said.
“We received a report from the Vermont Law Enforcement Agency that there were two suspects of a crime that occurred in Vermont that were in Charlestown this afternoon. While investigating the details and the location of these suspects, there was a heavy police presence in Charlestown looking for theses suspects. The two suspects in question were apprehended in another jurisdiction and the shelter in place status was lifted. The assisting agencies in Charlestown were New Hampshire State Police, the Walpole Police Department, and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.” Connors added, “Because of the ongoing investigation being conducted by another law enforcement agency, there will be no other details regarding this event released by the Charlestown Police Department.”
