Emily Ruth Swensen, 81, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Saturday (July 8, 2017) at the home of her daughter in Cornish, NH, following a brief illness. She was born in West Canaan, NH, on October 28, 1935 the daughter of John and Estabell (Braley) Holmes. She attended Grantham Grammar School and graduated from Lebanon High School, Class of 1953. Emily had been employed by Joy Manufacturing Company in Claremont as well as other various area manufacturing firms.
She was the widow of Lee Marshall Swensen who predeceased her on April 2, 2013.
She enjoyed riding horses and passing her knowledge of horses on to younger generations.
Members of her family include two sons, Robert Swensen, Cornish, NH; Michael Swensen, Wakefield, RI; three daughters, Susan S. Williams, Cornish, NH; Linda S. Brown, Moncks Corner, SC; Patricia Oliver, Cornish, NH13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Mutney, and Edith Willis both of Grantham, NH; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, two sisters in law, Joy Holmes, Polly Holmes, a brother in law, Raymond Touchette and her Morgan horse, Midnight.
Emily also leaves behind a wonderful circle of horse friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Jon M. Swensen, two brothers, Alfred Holmes, Richard Holmes, three sisters, Julia Polinski, Beverly Bridge and Margaret Touchette.
She was also predeceased by the love of her life, her Appaloosa, Leo. Funeral Services were held on Saturday (July 15) at the Grantham United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Meachen, officiating.
