William J. Sylvester, Jr., 71, of Manor Drive in Claremont, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017, unexpectedly at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Claremont, born on July 25, 1945 the son of William J and Mary (Pond) Sylvester. Bill was a graduate of Stevens High School in the class of 1965. He worked for Bourdon’s Mattress in Claremont for over 28 years as a material cutter. Bill was a member of the Claremont Country Club, the American Legion, the VFW, the Claremont Elks Club and the American Polish Club. The family includes his sister, Marie Dansereau of Claremont, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Theresa Reil and Pauline Dansereau. Family and friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Wednesday evening, July 12th, from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, July 13th, at 11AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Shawn Therrien, VF Pastor of St. Mary Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Bill Baril Memorial Field, C/O the Claremont Savings Bank Community Center 152 South Street, Claremont, NH 03743.
