Elva H. Melcher, 89, formerly of Lincoln Heights in Claremont, NH, died Tuesday (October 18, 2016) at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH, following a period of failing health.
She was born in Charlestown, NH, on October 27, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Nora (Stevens) Hall and had been a lifetime area resident. Elva had been employed as a shoe stitcher by International Shoe, Sunapee Shoe and Sportwelt Shoe. She was also involved in the foster grand parenting program.
She was the widow of Dean Melcher who died in 1970.
Members of her family include four sons, Donald Melcher and his wife, Cindy, Burlington, VT; Richard Melcher and his wife, Vivian, Cocoa, FL; Wayne Melcher, Charlotte, NC; Alan Melcher and his wife, Debbie, Claremont, NH; two daughters, Linda Cowdrey, Windsor, VT; Anna Benware and her husband, Daniel, Claremont, NH; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Hall, Robert Hall, four sisters, Lelia Brown, Eunice Salmon, Alta Nichols, Ruth Vadney and a grandson, Brandon Melcher.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
