CROYDON, NH–The Croydon Select Board has been asked by Chief Richard Lee to withdraw the Warrant Article offering the Large Gathering Ordinance. Lee and the Select Board agree that the predominate opposition to the ordinance by the Town’s residents makes presenting the ordinance inappropriate.
“Giving the subject considerable consideration, it is the Board of Selectmen’s recommendation, with the full support of the Croydon Police Chief, Richard Lee, the the Large Crowd Ordinance be removed from the list of warrant articles to be heard at Town Meeting,” said Selectman Tom Howard.
“It is with great disappointment the the Large Gathering Ordinance had no chance to pass,” commented Lee. “I was simply trying to make things livable for those of our citizens bothered by the loud level of noise that was frequently encountered from the location in question.” Lee continued, “This is democracy in the works, the people have spoken about this ordinance and I will accept the will of the citizens of Croydon. I thank the Town’s people for giving me the opportunity to be heard.”
The continuation of the February 8 hearing to February 15 is therefore cancelled. The Select Board thanked “all the residents who attended to offer their valuable input.”
