In the early morning hours of October 16th, 2019, ”Our Angel” Pamela Jean Benham Lafoe, transitioned into heaven following complications from surgery. Her family and loved ones were with her.
Pam was born on June 14, 1953, in Meriden, CT, the oldest of four daughters born to Ronald and Delores Benham (deceased). Pam graduated in 1972 from Stevens High School and spent 18 years as property manager of the Claremont Arms Apartments. Her working career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She beat the odds and survived the first of many health issues for her. Her greatest joy and role in life was that of mother and grandmother. She lived her life for her son and her grandchildren. She was a fierce advocate for special education services for her son and all children in the Claremont School District. She was a single mom, armed with unconditional love and devotion to her son. Pam was passionate about everything and everyone she loved. Her sense of humor was infectious and her wit was refreshing. She could make any day better just by being there for those in need and she was always there. She made people feel welcomed and loved. She loved cooking and sharing her time with her family and friends. The suddenness of losing her has left so many in shock and heartbreak.
Pam is survived by her loving son, Dan Lafoe, Claremont, NH; her most precious possessions, her grandchildren, Raegan, Mia, and Rilyn Lafoe and Hannah Harris; her sisters, Connie Benham, Biddeford, ME, and Melanie Chiachio, Hampstead, NH. Also surviving and trying to figure out how to carry on without her is her best friend and roomie, Laura Caraker; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Debra Seacord and her lifelong friend and cousin, Joseph Paradis.
Funeral services were held on Friday (Oct. 25) at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH with the Rev. Scott Kearns, officiating. Committal will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Due to the suddenness of this loss, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Roy Funeral Home to help with the cost of her funeral.
You are invited to share a memory of Pam with the family or leave a message of condolence in the family guest book at www.royfuneralhome.com.
