CLAREMONT, NH–On Friday evening of Dec. 30, detectives from the Claremont Police Dept., working in conjunction with officers from the Newport Police Dept., agents from the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force and troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, conducted a “Targeted Patrol” of the Sullivan St. area.
This target patrol was in response to complaints from neighbors and landlords in the area complaining of suspicious activity or suspected drug sales. As a result of this effort, five people were arrested for various crimes as follows:
Neville Walker, 26, Lempster, NH, Newport Police Warrant -Theft/Shoplifting Justin Ouellette, 36, Claremont, NH, Sheriff’s Capias and Possession of Crack Cocaine Chris Anderson, 45, Sunapee, NH, Sheriff’s Capias, Driving with a Suspended License
Following the arrest of the above three individuals, Probable Cause was obtained for a Search Warrant of #72 Sullivan St., Apt. #2. That warrant was executed with the seizure of drugs, ledgers and cash. Arrested at the location were:
Megan Horsfield, 27, Claremont, NH, Sales of a controlled drug – Crack Cocaine, Possession with intent to distribute controlled drugs, Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Nathaniel Plaisted, 31, Newport, NH, Falsifying Physical Evidence, Possession of a controlled drug – Crack Cocaine, Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Walker was released on personal recognizance bail with a court date in Newport District Court. The remaining four arrestees were to be arraigned in the Claremont District Court this afternoon.
Claremont Police Chief Alexander Scott said, “This type of targeted patrol or effort in a certain area helps to reduce drug activity and makes neighborhoods safer. We will continue to concentrate our efforts, supported by law enforcement agencies, on areas that need our attention.”
