The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) has announced that construction work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 22, 2019, on the stabilization of approximately 400 feet of failed roadway embankment between NH Route 12A and the Connecticut River, located just north of the intersection of NH Route 12A and Beauty Hill Road/River Road in Plainfield. The work includes clearing vegetation, stabilizing the slope with keyed stone fill, and reconstruction of approximately 575 feet of NH Route 12A to repair the washed out area of road. The contract also includes ditchline improvements along the east side of 12A with the installation of underdrain as well as guardrail replacement, and landscape installation. The southbound lane is currently open to one-way traffic with signals which will remain in place during construction. Motorists can expect delays due to construction equipment and one-way alternating traffic. The roadway is scheduled to be open on Friday, October 18, 2019, to two way traffic with a final completion date of June 19, 2020. Nott’s Excavating, Inc. of White River Junction, VT, is the contractor for the $1,237,473 project.
