Margaret “Peggy” Lewko died on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Valley Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born in Claremont, NH, the daughter of Harold and Eva Perry.
She grew up at Blodgetts Landing in Newbury where she attended a one room schoolhouse until entering and graduating from Stevens High School.
Peggy attended St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of AARP, Catholic Daughters and the Claremont Senior Center in which she enjoyed lunches with her cousin and friend, Pat Scherwerts. In 2007 she officially became a member of the Abenaki Band of Native Americans and visited the Odanak Reservation in Quebec, Canada.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tony and her brother, Louis Perry.
She is survived by her son, Steve Lewko and his wife, Sandy; a granddaughter, Meredith and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday, May 19th, from 10 to 11 AM.
A service will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home at 11 AM with Rev. Father Shawn Therrien officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
