Kathleen Fay Atwood, 68, of Indian Point Road in Croydon, NH, died Saturday (August 13) at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH, following a period of failing health.
She was born in Greenfield, MA, on July 30, 1948, the daughter of Merrill C. and Carolyn G. (Fregeau) Fay and had been an area resident since 1962, moving here from Burlington, VT. Kathleen had been employed as a supervisor by J.C. Penney until 1989. She later worked in the business office at SAU 70 in Hanover NH. On September 25, 1993 she married John M. Atwood in Claremont, NH. Kathleen enjoyed reading, campfires and also loved being at the lake. In 2000, Kathleen and John became summer residents at Rockybound Pond in Croydon and in 2004 became permanent residents.
Members of her family include her husband, John M. Atwood, Croydon, NH; a daughter, Lisa M. Rowell and her husband, Daniel, Addison, VT; a son, James Howe, Lempster, NH; a step daughter, Kathleen March and her husband, James, Claremont, NH; a sister, Merilyn Fass, Charlotte, VT; six grandchildren, Brandon Howe, Kate Howe, Aaron Rowell, Nathan Rowell, Ryan March, Jenna March and a great granddaughter, Ashlyn Howe.
There will be no visiting hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday (August 19) at the Croydon Flat Congregational Church with the Rev. Donna Muise, pastor, officiating.
Committal services will follow in the Croydon East Village Cemetery.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Croydon Flat Congregational Church, 29 Croydon Turnpike, Croydon, NH 03773 or the Croydon Historical Society, 879 NH RT. 10, Croydon, NH 03773.
