Jenefer Jean Rix Lumbra passed to a new chapter on June 5th 2017 after a lifetime of laughter and love.
Born November 20, 1939, to Harry Victor and Hilda Mae Rix in Great Massingam, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England, she attended West Norfolk High School for Girls and was a member of the local chapter of Girl Guides. She met Ralph C. Lumbra while serving his country at RAF Sculthorpe in England. They were married Nov 16, 1957, and moved to the United States on April 10, 1958. She loved piano, dancing, the arts, sewing as well as repairing, refinishing and reupholstering old furniture “treasures”. Over the last few months, she had designed and laid out a quilt with family members. During her final hours, family rallied together while in her presence and completed the quilt so she could witness her final creation. She loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her dog, Alfie. She had an eclectic sense of style which kept others amused and on their toes.
She worked for New Hampshire Health and Human services for almost 10 Years, the Claremont Housing Authority, and eventually retired from Dartmouth-Mary Hitchcock Hospital in 2007. She lived in Greenville, RI, in the early years however, was a long time resident of Claremont, NH. After leaving Claremont in 2013, she resided in Lakeland, FL, and the Keene, NH, area.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph C. Lumbra, her sister Helen “Anne” Whiting, her parents and her grandson Nolan Jacob Lumbra.
