Donald Paul Tacy was the son of Harold and Margaret (Freniere) Tacy, born 12/11/1943 in Northampton, MA. He spent his childhood in that area until, in the early 60s, he joined the Marines. Don then returned to MA where he married the late Janet Foster and had two children. In the early 70s, Don spent time hitchhiking across the country, and eventually settled in Claremont, NH, where, in 1980, he met the love of his life, Judy Ouellette, and young daughter Jenni. They were married August 13, 1983.
Known as Uncle Don to most everyone, he worked as a lathe operator at Joy and J&L and turned to carpentry as a profession when the machine shops closed. In 1987, the family bought a 1778 colonial farmhouse on the banks of the Connecticut River in Charlestown, NH. Don spent many years restoring their home and enjoying the great fishing and wildlife in his “backyard”.
Don was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Elaine Betsold and Jeanne Narushof.
He leaves behind his wife, Judy, Jen (Dominic) Saladyga and the other love of his life, granddaughter, Morghan. He is also survived by a son, Michale, and his children Brandon and Caleb, a daughter, Michele Martin and her children, Crystal, Janeen and Daniel, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews (special thanks to Lydia and Brian).
Donations in Don’s memory can be made to the Connecticut River Conservancy, 15 Bank Row, Greenfield MA 01301 or Bayada Hospice at their website: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at his home in Charlestown on August 13, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 pm. All are welcome to come and share their stories.
The Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
