CONCORD, NH — Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, Colonel Nathan A. Noyes of the New Hampshire State Police, and Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase have announced information regarding an active investigation involving the death of a child in Claremont.Claremont Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on Winter Street in Claremont at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 23. Once at the residence, police found an infant (7 days old) who was in medical distress, and who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.On August 24, New Hampshire’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval completed the autopsy of the child. At this time, the cause and manner of death are being withheld pending further investigation, said authorities in a press release.Additional information will be released while maintaining the integrity of the investigation, said the AG’s Office.
