The Claremont Police Department (PD) received a call on Friday, December 1, 2017, about an incident in which someone vandalized a sign on private property. The sign was painted over and defaced with a hand-painted swastika. The Claremont PD is investigating this act along with other similar acts of vandalism to this citizen’s property.
Last week’s incident reminds us of the need to ensure that Claremont is a community in which all people are treated with respect. Our prosperity as a City is directly related to each individual’s ability to contribute to its success. Actions of violence, racism or discrimination against one another jeopardize this, and cannot be tolerated.
Claremont is a city rich with people who care for one another and for the community as a whole, and we must continue to build upon that. Our reputation as a great place to live, work and play will only be secured when everyone has equal opportunity to participate.
