Mrs. Katherine (Kay) Bacon, of Claremont, NH, passed away early morning on October 11, 2017.
She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on September 27, 1922, the daughter of Alice Niblock and William Cairns. Kay graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. After graduating she went to work for Western Union, until she met the love of her life, Charles C. Bacon, and married in 1945; they decided then to move to Claremont NH, where they had four children together.
Kay worked as an office manager at W.T. Grant’s until they closed, then she went on to work for the New Hampshire Federal Credit Union, where she retired.
After retirement, Kay decided staying at home wasn’t for her, and then decided to get a part-time job working on the sales floor at JC Penny, until she was 83 years old.
Kay was also very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she held many positions within each organization. Some of her best times were within those buildings with what she loved to do and the people she loved to be around.
Kay was predeceased by her husband Charles and her three sons – Gary Bacon, Dale Bacon, and Jay Bacon.
She is survived by her daughter Faye Lawn, her granddaughter Allison Burgess, and her great grandchildren Darrian and Devon Burgess, all of Claremont.
Although Kay endured many hardships and obstacles in her life, Kay was a gentle soul, with a loving heart. She is going to be missed everyday, and with love we hope you remember her for everything that she was.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October17, at 11:00AM at the First Congregational Church, 72 Pleasant Street, Claremont, with Pastor John Johnson, officiating.
