Joseph M. “Butch” Parrotto, 73, passed away peacefully on October 13th, 2020, with his loving family by his side. He lost his battle with cancer after four long years and a heroic effort to be with his family for as long as he could.
Joseph was born in Claremont, NH, on October 31, 1946, to Joseph and Florence (Antobenedetto) Parrotto. After marrying Elizabeth (Greenwood) Parrotto, the love of his life, in 1966, he served in the U.S Army from 1966 until 1969. He was a proud American who loved his country and wore his Vietnam Veteran hat proudly wherever he went.
After working in the auto industry for most of his life, Joseph spent part of his retirement in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Melbourne, FL, before returning to New Hampshire to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He loved everything about New England, especially the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, homemade apple pie, eating Petey’s seafood at Hampton Beach, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Parrotto; two daughters, Lisa Belanger and her husband Bob, of Claremont, and Christina O’Hara and her husband Doug, of New Boston, NH; eight grandchildren, Brittany Young and her husband, Hayden, of Georgia, VT; Todd Haynes and his wife Lindsay, of Bedford, NH; Ashley Belanger, of Miami Beach, FL; Danny Haynes, of Quincy, MA; Emily O’Hara, of Alexandria, VA; Scott Haynes, of Merrimack NH; and Brady and Sam O’Hara, of New Boston, NH; one great grandson, Elliott Young, of Georgia, VT; a sister, Evelina Monarch and her husband, James, of Franklin, PA; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Florence Parrotto; his brother, Michael Parrotto; and his daughter, Marilyn Haynes.
Calling hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont, NH, on Saturday, October 17th, from 12:30-1:30, followed by a brief service at 1:30. Burial will take place on a later date at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral home and Parrotto family ask all attending the visitation and funeral service to abide with all regulations and please wear a mask and use social distancing.
