David Allen L’Heureux, 72, of Cornish, NH, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2020, after suffering a stroke from his home in Cornish.
Dave was born in Claremont, NH, July 12, 1947, to Wilfred Gerard and Verna Ussuline Wood. He was a Vietnam Veteran, who served in the Army, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He continued to serve as a civilian working for the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, (CRREL), in Hanover, NH. During his tenure, he was recognized for his work on ice flow dynamics related to the deployment of ribbon bridges.
He retired with the love of his life, his wife, Ruth. Together, Dave and Ruth built and cherished their home and farm together, nestled in the hills of Cornish. Their love for animals was unprecedented. Their beautiful horse and two donkeys, along with multiple chickens, and their cat brought them great joy and happiness. The fields that surrounded them gave them ample opportunities to watch birds, deer, mountain lions, bear, and other wildlife in its natural habitat.
Surviving family members include his two stepsons, David, “Skip,” Beland and his wife, “Bo” Song Beland, of Pflugerville, TX, and Darrell Beland, of Cornish. He is also survived by one sibling, Linda McKay, and her husband, Paul McKay, who reside in Connecticut.
He was predeceased by siblings, Gary L’Heureux and Joan Mack.
