Zylpha A. Dings, 93 of Wilder, VT, and formerly of Pleasant Valley Estates in Claremont, NH, died Saturday (May 20, 2017) at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct.
She was born in Meredith, NH, on January 2, 1924, the daughter of Worcester and Mildred (Rand) Berry and had been a Claremont resident since 1951. Zylpha had been employed by Split Ball Bearing Company and MPB in Lebanon, NH. She and her husband Minton, were involved in mutual hobby of tying flies for fishing and their efforts resulted in a well known business called Ding’s Flies which they ran from their former home on Washington Street in Claremont where they also sold flowers and garden vegetables. Zylpha enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. She enjoyed spending time at their camp in Pittsburg, NH and wintering in Florida. She was the widow of Minton Dings who died in 1991.
Members of her family include a son, Minton Dings, II, Havana, IL; five daughters, Andrea A. Dings, Carrollton, TX; Arlene Z. Walling, Emory, TX; Kathleen M. Cook, Wilder, VT; Cheryl Ann Porter, White River Jct., VT; Christina L. LaFont, Enfield, NH; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Howard Berry and a sister, Margaret Day.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday (May 25) at the Roy Funeral Home with the Rev. John Johnson, officiating. Committal services will be held at a later date in the Meredith Village Cemetery in Meredith, NH at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Brookside Nursing Home Patient Activity fund, 1200 Christian Street, White River Jct., VT 05001.
