William D. Honney, Jr., 85 of Winter Street in Claremont, NH, died Thursday (April 13, 2017) at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT following a period of failing health.
He was born in Claremont, NH, on March 22, 1932, the son of William D., Sr. and Madeline (Donovan) Honney. He was a veteran of the US Air Force for 22 years and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant, Jet Engine Training NCO. He was a Certified Aircraft Reciprocating Engine Mechanic and served during the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed as an inspector at Bryant Grinder Corp in Springfield, VT. until his retirement in 1994. On September 2, 1962 he married the former Gloria D. Johnson. She predeceased him on August 4, 2004. William enjoyed bowling, silhouette shooting, reloading his own ammunition and had a wonderful sense of humor. He and his wife Gloria coached bowling for many years.
Members of his family include a daughter, Cheryl Ulz and her husband, Andrew, Post Mills, VT; a grandson, William Ulz, Nashville, TN; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ulz, Post Mills, VT; his beloved dog, Ted, a sister Patricia MacDonald, Claremont, NH; a brother, Ronald Honney and his wife, Joann, SC and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Honney, and a sister, Eileen Lusco.
There will be no visiting hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday (April 21) at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH.
