Virginia M. Quimby, 92, passed away on July 17, 2019. She was born in Detroit, MI, on July 26, 1926, the daughter of Isaac and Mary (Kompsi) Rajala and has resided in Claremont for many years.
She worked at Claremont Woven Label for many years, eventually becoming office manager. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Soo-nipi Quilters Guild. She was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She loved her family, spending time with her grandsons, her cats, traveling, and cooking, especially soups.
Her family includes her son; Steve Quimby; daughter, Molly Dulong; grandsons, Kenny and Zach; Niece, Judy and her husband, Stan Rastalis; Nancy Ranta and her children Heather and Jeff; son-in-law, Dave Dulong; and her caregiver, Candice Royce.
She was predeceased by her husband; Olney Quimby; daughter, Mary Lane Quimby and sister, Viola Ranta.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 22nd from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at the Trinity Episcopal-Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesday July 23rd at 11:00 AM.
