The Attorney General’s Office issued a press release today (Friday) identifying the Claremont Police officer involved in the shooting that took place during the early morning hours of Sunday, September 25, 2016. In light of that, Claremont Police Chief Alex Scott reminded the public that inquiries concerning the ongoing investigation into this matter should be “directed to the investigating agency, the NH State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Attorney General’s Office. As is standard practice in any use of force incident of this nature, the involved officer is automatically removed from line-duty assignment pending completion of the Attorney General’s Office investigation and an administrative review.
“The Claremont Police Department is not provided with any information concerning the ongoing investigation until the investigation is complete and the Attorney General’s Office issues its final report on the incident. We appreciate and understand the community wishes for quick answers but must respect the integrity of the investigative process to ensure the most accurate outcome,” said Scott.
