Simone Louise Houle, 88, formerly of 243 Broad Street in Claremont, NH, died Saturday June 4, 2016, at Elmwood Center in Claremont.
Simone was born in Leominster, MA, on Aug. 17, 1927, the daughter of Eugene and Delina (Tellier) Lemire. She resided in Newport, NH, most of her life where she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Armand Lamothe and lived in Claremont since 1989.
She retired in 1989 from Dorr Woolen Company where she worked as a rewinder for 10 years and had previously worked for a short time at Sylvania in Hillsboro and as a waitress at the Pines Restaurant in Guild.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Woman’s Catholic Club of St Patrick’s Church. She loved bingo, knitting, reading and going to the ocean at Hampton Beach and York Beach.
Simone was the widow of Leon Houle whom she married on Jan. of 1967; he died 1991.
The surviving family includes three children, Rebecca St Pierre and her husband, Philip of Charlestown, Robert Marvin and his wife, Deborah of Unity, and Mary Freeman of Hillsboro; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Gobin of Newport; a very special step daughter, Donna Gobin of Unity; three step-daughters, Betty Gagnon of Camden, TN, Patricia Frye and her husband, Peter of Newport and Debra Thibedau of Maine; half brothers and sisters include, Albert, Aime and Louie Lemire, Pauline Martin, Madeline Biron and Leah Miller and two cousins that she grew up with, Paul and Robert Lamothe; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sons, Michael Gobin in 1966, William Gobin in 2015 and Lawrence Gobin in 2010 and one brother, Norman Lemire in 1988.
There are no visiting hours.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Patrick’s Church in Newport on Friday, June 10th, at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
