The Stevens boys basketball team had a tough week as they took to the road to play two of the top teams in Division II. On Tuesday they Lebanon to take on the Raiders and made the long trip to Durham on Friday evening to take on the Bobcats of Oyster River.
At Lebanon, Derrick Stanhope hit a 3 pointer on the game’s first shot, but it was all the Cardinals would muster as the Raiders ran off the final 32 points of the quarter and went on to a 70-21 victory. Josh Stithen scored a team high 7 points for the Cardinals. Stanhope and Owen Taylor chipped in with 4 points apiece.
On Friday night, Stevens again hit the opening points of the game on a Josh Stithen 3 pointer but the Bobcats, who played in the Division II Championship Game last season, got a game high 33 points from Kyle Landrigan en route to a 71-22 victory. Stithen had a team high 9 points, while Clayton Wadsworth had 5 points.
The Stevens JV team dropped a 58-34 decision to Lebanon on Tuesday evening. Alex Taylor had a team high 9 points. Brady Moote had 6 points and Reeve Wilkinson added 5 points.
At Oyster River the JV boys played a great game but ended up on the short end of a 51-45 score. Cooper Moote and Brennan Huntoon both had a team high 12 points. Alex Taylor chipped in with 10 points and had a game high 18 rebounds! Brady Moote had 4 points and ripped down 11 rebounds.
Both teams are off until the New Year when the varsity boys and girls will travel to Fall Mountain on January 2nd to take on the Wildcats. The boys play at 5:30 with the girls game to follow at 7:00. The JV boys are off until January 4th when they host Merrimack Valley.
