Sandra Kempton, 78, a former resident of Claremont and Newport, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 30, 2017, at the Sullivan County Home in Unity with her sister Brenda at her side.
She was born March 27, 1939 in Newport, NH, the daughter of Earl and Erva (Lurvey) Kempton. She received her schooling in Newport and graduated from Towle High School in Newport in the Class of 1957. Sandra was employed at the Hartford Element in Guild, NH, and later at the Sullivan County Home as a kitchen aid. She was a member of the Newport Methodist Church, where she proudly sang in the choir. Sandy loved to draw, enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, going to the Newport Senior Center and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed fishing with her longtime companion, Harry Spaulding.
She was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister, Virginia Kempton, her companion, Harry Spaulding, and her brother-in-law, Greg Veresan.
Survivors include her sister, Brenda Veresan of Lebanon, NH, two nephews, Sean Roberts also of Lebanon, and Stacy Roberts and wife, Nicole, and their four children, Alex, Adisyn, Aaron and Andrew, all of Wade, NC.
At Sandra’s request there will be no public services.
Committal services will be held at the convenience of her family in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Guild, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Sandra’s family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Sullivan County Home for the exceptional care they showed to her during the past eight years.
