Ruth Agnes Stone, 94, of Old Claremont Road in Charlestown, NH, died august 30, 2019, at Elmwood in Claremont, NH.
She was born in Cornish, NH, on Nov. 13, 1924, the daughter of Joseph C. and Josephine (Pinkham) Tierney, attended Cornish Schools and graduated from Lebanon High. Ruth resided in Charlestown since 1947.
She wasemployed at Fall Mountain School District, where she worked in the kitchen, cooking and serving food. Ruth was a member of Woodbury Rebekah Lodge #61, a former member of the Grange, a charter member of VFW post 8497 Auxiliary and life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
She married Chester Stone on Dec. 21, 1947; he died on August 6, 2013.
The family includes three sons, Dennis C. Stone and his wife, Suncha of Charlestown; Gregory T. Stone of Tucson, AZ, and Bradley C. Stone of Clearwater, FL; three daughters, Dianne Schroeder and her husband, Robert of Barrington; Janis Hamel and her husband, Michael; and Marcia Stone both of Claremont; six grandchildren, Devon Hamel, Rachel Hamel, Carl Stone and his wife, Carol, Andrew Stone and his wife Yuko, Zahna Werner and her husband Ryan and Tegan Henderson and her husband Matthew; two great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Tierney; Robert Tierney; James Tierney and William Tierney; six sisters, Shirley Leonard; Katherine Levey; Polly Monette; Louise Spaulding; Marion Baribeau and Barbara Wall.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 1 PM at Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown, NH. if inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Charlestown Congregational Church on Main Street in Charlestown.
