Russell Wheeler Davis of Unity, NH, passed peacefully at his home on November 2, 2021, with his wife at his side, following a lengthy illness. The family gathered in August to reunite and enjoyed sharing memories of a life well lived and past good times.
Russ was born November 11, 1940, in Burlington, VT, to Homer Greenwood Davis and Thelma Bundy Davis. He was the only son of their four children. Russ lived in Burlington and Springfield, VT, and Charlestown and Unity, NH.
Russ was a 1959 graduate of Springfield High School. After attending Champlain College he worked at Vermont Savings Bank, Cooperative Savings & Loan and Gear Shaper in Springfield, VT. He also worked five years as a setup/service person of mobile homes in Charlestown, NH. Russ later worked for the City of Claremont, NH, Water and Sewer Dept., retiring from there after 20 years. Closing out his work life, he drove a bus for 10 years with Community Transit between Claremont and Newport, NH, enjoying his travelers and their stories. He was also involved as a volunteer firefighter in Unity.
Russ married the love of his life, Karen Kingsbury, on Nov. 21, 1970, who has lovingly supported every endeavour Russ took on. They had three children together.
Russ was predeceased by his parents and sister Betsy Davis Neuhaus.
Russ is survived by his wife Karen; siblings Barbara Davis Antoniewich (Jay) of Nashua, NH, and Carol Salmeri VonMaluski (David) of Tarpon Springs, FL; daughter Sheryl Follansbee (Russell) of Holderness, NH, son Timothy Davis (Cilene) of Unity, NH, and son Christopher Davis (Jaime) of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Unity Fire Department, P.O. Box477, Claremont, NH 03743.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 12th from 4PM to 6PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH, with a memorial service to follow at 6PM.
