Robert Cornish, 79, of Newport, NH, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at his home after a period of failing health. He was born a triplet in Hartford, CT, on January 10, 1942, the son of Floyd E. and Lillian (Lavoie) Cornish.
In 1960, all three boys, Raymond, Richard and Robert, graduated from St. Mary’s High School and were honored by the local newspaper for being the first set of triplets to graduate in Claremont.
Robert served in the US Army and after worked for Cricenti’s in New London in the produce department.
He was an active member of the Claremont American Legion and a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight.
The family includes his brother, Floyd Cornish and his wife, Sandy; four sisters, Kathleen Derosier and her husband Robert, Eileen Thompson and husband Nathan, Ellen St. Pierre and her husband John and Lynn Ferland and her husband Dennis. Also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Raymond, and a sister, Carol Hiltunen.
A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Mary Church in Claremont at 10AM on Tuesday March 9th. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visiting hours, and the Stringer Funeral Home and Cornish family ask all attending the Mass to abide with all regulations and please wear a mask and use social distancing.
