CLAREMONT, NH—The Claremont Police Department has released a statement regarding a fatal accident in Claremont early this morning.
On April 19, at approximately 6:12 a.m., the Claremont Police Department, Claremont Fire Department and Golden Cross Ambulance responded to Chestnut St. nearly the Unity town line for a single motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival at the scene, medical personnel provided emergency care and transported the operator to Valley Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
According to Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase, police investigators identified the operator of the vehicle as Danuta Antosiewicz, 61, of Springfield, VT. Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that Antosiewicz was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Chestnut St.; the vehicle left the eastbound side of the road before striking a large tree stump. There were no passengers in the car, and no other vehicles were identified as being involved.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time, said Chase. However, speed and alcohol do not initially appear to be factors, he said.
