NEWPORT, NH–On Thursday May 26, the New Hampshire Board of Education accepted the withdrawal of both the Croydon School District and the Newport School District from joint SAU43. The Board approved Croydon School District to operate as a single district SAU with a new number, SAU99. The Board approved Newport School District to operate as a single district SAU which retains the SAU43 designation. SAU43 was once a multidistrict SAU that included Kearsarge, Goshen, Lempster, Sunapee Croydon and Newport. Sunapee left the SAU in 2008.
Croydon School District has hired Dr. Greg Vogt as the new Superintendent. Vogt is returning to public school service after a brief retirement. Previously he was the superintendent of Plainfield School District.
Newport School District has hired Dr. Cindy Gallagher to return as Superintendent for the 2016-17 school year. Gallagher was appointed as Interim Superintendent for both Croydon and Newport school districts in January 2015. She was hired into the full time role in February 2016.
The entire process will be completed with both districts acting independently effective July 1, 2016, said Gallagher.
