It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul R. Boucher on June 11, 2021. Paul was born on February 11, 1945, in Hudson, NH, to the late Roger L. Boucher and Esther (Daneault) Boucher, the eldest of four children. He graduated in 1963 from Alvirne High School and attended St. Anselm College for two years. In 1966 he joined the Army, and while serving in Vietnam earned the Army Commendation Medal. Upon returning home from the military, he attended Southern New Hampshire College and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1973.
He started his career in banking with the Indian Head Bank in Nashua, NH and was later transferred to their Claremont, NH, branch. In 1976 he accepted a position as the Operations Officer with the National Bank of Lebanon before switching to insurance as an agent/broker for the Degnan Hough Insurance Agency and later for the Townsend Insurance Agency. In 1979 he became Director of the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce, was appointed Board Chairman in 1983 and in 2000 he was named President and CEO. Upon retirement, he started his own consulting business, assisting new entrepreneurs. He was an ordained Deacon and held a master’s degree in Theology from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH, serving at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Claremont, NH for the past 19 years.
Paul was a 66-year member of the Boy Scouts of America, 48-year member of the Rotary Club of Claremont and Lebanon (serving as Lebanon’s President from 1983-1984), member of the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, member of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Board of Overseers, board member and chair of Lebanon College, member of the Advisory Board for River Valley Community College, member of the CATV Board of Directors, counselor for SCORE, Treasurer of the Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation, member of the Grafton County Regional Development Corporation, member of the Lebanon Airport Advisory Committee, Citizens Bank and WMUR “Heart of Your City” in 2012, Lebanon Citizen of the Year in 2014, Justice of the Peace for the State of New Hampshire, Co-Chair of the Home Life Expo for many years, Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee for Sacred Heart Parish in Lebanon, NH, 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the Diocese of Manchester Finance Council. Paul was very civic-minded and had a great love and devotion to the City of Lebanon and its citizens.
Paul was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dennis; and brother-in-law, Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Christopher (Rebecca) and Matthew (Marquetta); grandchildren Asya, Ella, Adara, Maille and Giovanni; sister, Diane Bowen; brother, Gerald (Kathy) Boucher; sister-in-law, Lauren (Roland) Scotti and brother-in-law, Lawrence (Frances) Ridge, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
Services will begin Wednesday afternoon, June 16th, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Claremont, NH, with the Reception of the Body at 4:00 pm. He will lie in repose till 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 17th, at 10 am with Most Reverend Peter Libasci D.D., Bishop of Manchester presiding and Very Reverend Shawn Therrien V.G. celebrant. Internment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lebanon, NH, with full military honors on Friday, June 18th, at 11:00 am.
