Patricia M. (Pat) Bushway, 83, of Charlestown, NH, passed away on Sunday morning, September 22, 2019, at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT.
She was born in Claremont, NH, on January 24, 1936, the daughter of Daniel E. and Ruby (McArthur) Clifford. Pat grew up in Charlestown.
After graduating from Charlestown High School in 1954, she worked for New England Telephone in Claremont.
She married William R. Bushway in 1957 in Charlestown. They were happily married for 61 years. He passed away on July 15, 2018.
Pat was a former member of the Charlestown Congregational and North Charlestown Methodist Church and served in many capacities, she was a current member of the Springfield United Methodist Church Joining in 2017.
She was a member of the Charlestown Senior Center and sang with “Silver Country”. She was also a member of the Springfield Senior Center and served on the Activities Committee and the cookie walk at the Annual Christmas Bazaar for many years. Pat was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Daniel Webster Council and served in many capacities, starting as Den Leader for Pack 31 in Charlestown in 1970; she received an Appreciation Award from the pack, before moving on to the District level. In District, she received the Mantova District Appreciation Award in 1981, District Award of Merit in 1982, and Silver Beaver, the highest award in scouting in 1986.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Ruby; her brother, Daniel W. Clifford; grandson, Garrett H. Bushway; brother-in-law, Robert Bushway; nephew, Bruce Bushway and niece, Deb Payne.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Bushway and his wife, Deborah of Acworth; Scott Bushway and his wife, Gina of Westmoreland; and Shawn Bushway and his wife, Amber of Charlestown; her grandchildren, Kayla Bushway, Kamron Bushway, Gabryelle Bushway and Lukas Bushway; also many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Friday, September 27th from 10 to 11AM. A Celebration of Life will be at the Chapel at 11 AM with Rev. Gerry Piper officiating.
