Early on September 28, 2019, Pastor Robert James Hills, 64, sang with his band, Middle River Gospel, at the Jesus Revival Concert in Newport, NH. That afternoon he woke up singing in thepresence of his Lord.
Robert James Hills was born the youngest family member to Robert C. Hills (Bea Hills) and Jean Leavitt Hills Ouellette (Leonard Ouellette) on May 13, 1955, in Newport, NH. His sisters are Sandra (Hills) Greenwood (Robert), and Cynthia (Hills) Hurst (Jimmy Hurst predeceased him). His family includes several stepbrothers, stepsisters, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and cousins.
Jim graduated from Stevens High School in 1974. He then joined the United States Air Force where he met the love of his life, Cindy Hills. As Jim began a relationship with Jesus, his accomplishments grew. Some of his achievements are that he became ordained as a minister with the Assemblies of God. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Bible from Valley Forge Christian College. He completed his Master’s Degree in Education at Keene State College.
Pastor Jim served the Lord for over 40 years in various areas of Pastoral ministry. He taught in numerous public and private schools. He was a talented musician, singer, and songwriter. Jim was involved and ministered with local singing groups Gospel Train and Middle River Gospel. He loved sharing Jesus with everyone he met.
Jim’s family includes his wife Cynthia (Weber) Hills. His children: Alan Brock of Newport, NH, Jessica Hills Bellus (Tim Bellus) of Spokane Valley, WA. Robert Andrew Hills (Stephanie) of Claremont, NH and Mark James Hills ( Leah) of Topsham, VT. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Wyatt Bellus, Natalie Bellus Jacob Bellus, Gabriel Hills, Isabel Hills, James D. Hills, Brady Kimball Hills and Faith Hills.
We will be gathering to Celebrate Pastor Jim at Lake Church on Saturday, October 5, at 11:00. Service will be co-officiated by his nephew, Rev. Michael Greenwood, and brother-in-law, Rev. John Weber. The service location is 314 Sunapee St., Newport, NH 03773.
