NEWPORT, NH–Steve Cossingham, 65, of Newport passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 2nd. He died following a horseback riding accident about a month ago and had been under care at D-H until his passing.
President and owner of National Field Representatives, Cossingham purchased the business in September of 1989 in Windsor, VT, with four employees. He relocated the business to Claremont in 1990 where it remains today, employing 250 employees; it includes three locations in Claremont and one in Bradenton, FL. The company offers a full line of property services. NFR is currently building an expansion at its Maple Avenue location that is slated to be finished later this year and will consolidate its Claremont operation. He had grown the company into one of the largest employers in Claremont; NFR is well known for its charitable donations to the community. Cossingham received the Greater Claremont Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year award at the President’s Awards in February.
Cossingham was a longtime resident of Newport. In 2012 he and his wife, Deborah, purchased a horse farm in North Newport and created Full Circle Farm. His love for horses was built during childhood at his family’s Rawhide Stables on Old Church Road in Claremont. After his “40 year sabbatical”, life had truly come full circle and he was able to return to horseback riding and even more importantly to him, bring the experience to others. They created a lesson program as well as a very personally rewarding therapeutic lesson program at the farm.
