Olga (Samal) Zook, 99, of Beacon Street in Claremont, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (February 1, 2017) at Valley Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Greenfield, MA on October 27, 1917 the daughter of Nicholas and Pauline (Kazakiewicz) Samal. She graduated from Greenfield High School, Class of 1937. Olga worked for Greenfield Tap & Die until her marriage to Alek Zook on July 21, 1945. They were married for 44 years until his passing in April of 1989. Her early life included winter travel to Florida with her husband, and a trip to Russia and Italy with her sister. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was an accomplished crafter and made beautiful quilts. She was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.
Members of her family include a sister, Mary Legere, Greenfield, MA; two nieces, Polly and husband, Doug, Sally and husband, Dan, a nephew, Raymond and his wife, Valerie, a nephew Steven eight great nieces and nephews, Greg, Angie, Mike, Jonny, Chelsey and husband, George, and Janae and husband, Steve, Stevie and Meghan. The family is grateful to her dear friend and neighbor, William Moore for his care and attention.
Olga was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, David, Adam, and Nikolan, a sister, Nadejda and a nephew, Edward.
Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Saturday (Feb. 4) from 11:00 am until 12:00pm.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday (Feb. 4) at the Green River Cemetery in Greenfield, MA.
