Article 3, the operating budget, of $17,711,238 passed with a vote of 317 yes. no 114
Article 3 includes the Newport Teachers contract and the Newport Support Staff contract.
Article 4, transfer upto $50,000 from fund balance to the Unanticipated Educational Services Expendable Trust Fund, Passed yes 216 no 212
Article 5, transfer upto $50,000 from fund balance for to the Transportation Capital Reserve Fund, passed 242 no 186
Article 6, transfer the sum of $200,000 from fund balance to fund a one year pilot behavior support program in Richards Elementary School, failed yes 201 no 223
Article 7, to convene a committee to study feasibility of charging a fee for participation in extracurricular activities, Passed 216 yes no 211
Article 8, to contract with the Town of Newport for financial services, passed yes 291 no 134
Mrs. Irwin, a school board member, said, “We are very pleased to see the voters brave the storm and to support the schools.” Passed 291 yes, no 134. This is a non-binding vote.
