Marjorie (Marj) Scofield Truesdell, previously of Claremont, NH, died on Monday, July 9th, 2018, at the age of 80. She was born on November 4, 1937, in Stamford, CT, the daughter of Ralph G and Dorothy (Black) Scofield.
She graduated from Stamford High School in 1955 and received both Bachelors and Masters degrees from Johnson State College in Johnson, VT.
Marj loved her three children, sports (more than 60 years watching the NY Yankees), baking, gardening, classical music, and traveling. Marj was a member of the N.R.A and received the Distinguished Rifleman’s Award at the age of 18.
Throughout her life Marj focused on others – teaching 25 years for the Community College of Vermont, many years as a mentor, 4-H leader and serving on the Board of Directors of the Greensboro Nursing Home. She retired in 1995 after 17 years as a social worker and Reach-up Counselor for the State of Vermont.
Marj is survived by her children, Sherry Lussier and her husband Gregory of Hardwick, VT, and their two children Casey and Griffin (Elizabeth); Daniel Truesdell and his wife Christine Terrell of Claremont, NH, and their daughter Erin; and Nancy Brochu and her husband Bernie of Waterford, VT, and their children Jillian and Carter and one sister, Phyllis Kramer of Alhambra, CA.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.
A celebration of Marj’s life will be held on Sunday, August 12, at 2 PM at 2244 West Hill Rd, Hardwick, VT. Please join her family as we celebrate her life and all that she had to offer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Craftsbury Community Care Center, 1784 E. Craftsbury Rd, Craftsbury, VT 05826.
