CLAREMONT, NH–Claremont Police Chief Mark T. Chase, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher Wagner, and Charlestown Police Chief Patrick Connors issued the following joint press release Tuesday afternoon:
On October 2, 2018, at approximately 12:40am, Golden Cross Ambulance reported that an adult male subject arrived at their headquarters building in Claremont with an apparent gunshot wound. The subject was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time. Initial indications are that his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
The Claremont Police Department, assisted by the New Hampshire State Police, initiated an investigation in the High Street area into the circumstances leading to the male subject’s injuries. Investigators developed early information leading them to the Morways Mobile Home Park in Charlestown. The Charlestown Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police, with the assistance of the Charlestown Ambulance, executed a search warrant in the Morways Mobile Home Park in furtherance of this investigation.
Early information indicates that this appears to be an isolated incident, and investigators are not aware of any specific known threat to the public at this time. The Claremont Police Department is continuing to actively investigate this matter with the assistance of New Hampshire State Police Troop C, the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit, the Charlestown Police Department, and the Sullivan County Attorneys Office. Further details will be released to the public when it is appropriate to do so.
