On June 4, 2022, Laurette M. Willette peacefully passed away at the age of 96, with her family by her side.
Laurette was born to Charles and Lillian Breton on February 19, 1926, in Biddeford, ME. The family eventually settled in Claremont, NH. Supported over multiple generations, the family property, affectionately known as “the block,” served as the foundation for their strong faith and bond with each other. Laurette worked in the family store on the property. This is where she met her husband, Fred.
Laurette raised her children in both Rhode Island and New Hampshire, as well as abroad in Cuba and Germany. Though a quiet presence, Laurette’s command could be seen in her devotion to provide a nurturing, loving home where family gathered to celebrate. Laurette dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Her unwavering commitment to care for her daughter, Sandra Malhoit, was always validated by Sandy’s infectious smile.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Laurette enjoyed cooking and baking, often putting her own touch on recipes. She was well-known for her jam and enjoyed the busy months of gardening with her husband, Fred.
Laurette is survived by her three children: Edward (Wayne) Malhoit and Christine of Claremont, NH; Marilyn Richards of Laconia, NH; and William (Bill) Willette and Suzanne of Acworth, NH; her sisters, Theresa Allard and June Silva of Claremont, NH; many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren (Adam, Ashley, Jamie, Michael, Matthew and Cassidy); and seven great-grandchildren (Marisa, Liam, Antonio, Samuel, Kayleigh, Dana and Alex).
Laurette was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Malhoit, and her husband, William (Fred) Willette; her brother Raymond Breton of Claremont, NH and her sister Rachel Yurek of Claremont, NH.
Calling hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, with a service to follow at St. Joseph Parish in Claremont.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Sullivan County Nursing Home for providing Laurette and Sandy with exceptional care.
