Katherine (Kathi) A. Marro Moore, 83, of Charlestown, NH, died at her home on May 4, 2020, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on December 23, 1936, in Claremont, NH, the daughter of Carminie and Mary (Cillo) Marro.
She graduated from Stevens High School in 1954, from the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in New London, CT, in 1957 and the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She worked at Norwich, CT, State Hospital from 1957 to 1959.
In May of 1959, Kathi joined the USAF Nurse Corp, assigned to Eglin AFB, England on Air Evac Duty, then assigned to Mildenhall RAF and then on to Rhine Main AFB, Germany, all on Air Evac Duty. She also did two consecutive tours in Vietnam from November 1966 to June 1968. Kathi continued doing many tours until she retired from the USAF in May of 1979 as a Lt. Colonel.
After returning to this area, Kathi continued her nursing career at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity, NH.
Kathi belonged to the VFW in Charlestown. As an avid reader, she enjoyed being a volunteer at the Charlestown library. She also volunteered at the Union Street Elementary School in Springfield, VT for many years.
Kathi is survived by two sisters: Madeline (Marro) Barbieri, and Carmella (Marro) Tenney and her husband, William; one brother, Albert Marro and his wife, Alberta all of Claremont; four sisters-in-law: Arline Marro of Claremont, Cecile Marro of Topsham, ME, Nancy Moore of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Gail Moore of Paragould, AR; one brother-in-law; Nelson Moore of Jonesboro, AR and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Michael D. Moore, whom she was married to for 39 years, one sister, Marion Marro and six brothers, Anthony, Nicholas, Dominic, Charles, Joseph and Paul Marro; four sisters-in-law, Ann Marro, Roberta Marro, Sondra Moore and Randall Moore St. Clair and three brothers-in-law, Peter Barbieri, Terry Moore and Gene St. Clair.
A celebration of Kathi’s life will be held for family and friends at a later date. Burial will be at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
Kathi suggests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the following charities; Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or Vietnam Women’s Memorial Fund, C/O Eastern National, 470 Maryland Drive, Suite 1, Fort Washington, PA 19034.
Kathi would like to thank the staff at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT for the wonderful care she received, especially the same day oncology infusion suite. Also a thank you to Bayada Hospice Home Health care in Brattleboro, VT for their wonderful care.
