Karen L. Williams (Smith) age 68 peacefully passed away at Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon NH on January 9th, 2017 ,after suffering a stroke on November 30th 2016.
Karen was surrounded by her family as she went to be with our Lord. Karen was born in Newport, NH, on September 24th 1948. She attended and graduated from Newport High School in 1967 and married Ted (Theodore) Williams on August 10th 1968. Karen worked for over twenty years at the Dartmouth Woolen Mill (Homestead Industries) as a weaver in Claremont NH. At the age of 50 Karen attended the NH Vocational Technical College in Claremont. Karen received her Associates degree as a Medical Assistant on May 24th 2000. She immediately began working for Pathways of Claremont, NH, where she worked for over ten years as a care provider to people with disabilities. In June of 2002 she was honored as employee of the year. Karen who was dedicated to continue her work with people with disabilities transferred to Developmental Services of Claremont, NH, where she worked for over five years until she transferred to Independent Network Services where she continued until she passed.
Karen is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ted, their two sons, Terry Williams of Savannah GA, and Mark Williams of Reading, MA, and her four grandchildren. Karen is also survived by her three sisters and younger brother.
A memorial service for Karen will take place at Roy’s Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Saturday, January 13th. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00. In honor of Karen’s continuous contributions and care to persons of special needs, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Special Olympics, 650 Elm Street, #200, Manchester, NH 03101.
