Joseph Lewko, 93, formerly of Barnes Street in Claremont, NH, died Saturday (April 16, 2017) at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH, following a period of failing a period of failing health.
He was born in Vilna, Poland, on November 25, 1923, and had been a longtime Claremont resident. Joseph served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had been employed as the Chief Steward at the Polish American Citizen’s Club in Claremont, NH. He was the widower of Helen (Zombeck) Lewko who predeceased him on February 3, 2009.
Members of his family include three sons, Richard Lewko, Landover Hill, MD, Robert Lewko and Raymond Lewko both of Claremont, NH, a sister Appalonia Lonsky, Keene, NH, and several nieces, nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Lewko and a brother, Boleslaw Lewko. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, with the Rev. Shawn M. Therrien, officiating. Committal followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
