John Smeltzer, 70, of Acworth, NH, passed away at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont after a long illness. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, on July 27, 1946, the son of LeRoy and Helen (Laffin) Smeltzer. John enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and served as an aviation mechanic in Vietnam. After his discharge, he trained and worked as a tool and die maker. His many interests include hunting, fishing, BBQ’s, bonfires, motorcycles, music, NASCAR, model trains and planes, scratch-art, photography, woodworking and whatever needed fixing. John especially enjoyed time with friends and helping out where ever he could. He is survived by a sister, Laura Cannata Holscher of Wisconsin and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, LeRoy Smeltzer and a sister, Donna Edwards. An interment ceremony will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11 AM.
