Joan Elisabeth Magoon, 85, of Claremont, NH, passed away on January 27, 2020, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born on April 16, 1934, in Boston, MA, the daughter of James and Gladys (Carter) Landers. She had lived in New Hampshire since she was eight years old and 54 years in Claremont until she moved to The Villages at Cedar Hill in Windsor, VT in 2017.
She married Paul H. Magoon on August 18, 1963 and they had 54 happy years together until his passing in 2017. She and Paul enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful trips in the USA and Europe, many times with family and friends.
She was a graduate of Coe Brown Northwood Academy and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse and worked for 35 years with the last 27 years at Claremont General/Regional Hospital in Claremont. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Ladies Union Aid Society of VRH, an alumnus of Coe Brown Academy Alumni Association, and MHMH School of Nursing, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and had been an American Red Cross volunteer.
She was very proud of her family and is survived by her son Paul J. Magoon and his wife Kristina, and grandchildren Matthew and Megan Magoon all of Colorado Springs, CO.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday morning, February 2nd at 10:30 AM in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 120 Broad Street in Claremont, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Magoon/Paquette Scholarship Fund, Stevens High School Alumni Association, 50 West Pleasant Street, Claremont, NH 03743.
The Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
