James W. Simoneau, 80, of Newport, NH, died Tuesday (May 15) at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport, NH, following a period of failing health.
He was born in Unity, NH, on October 20, 1937, the son of Ivan, Sr. and Leona (Descoteau) Simoneau and had been a longtime area resident. James was a self-employed logger, worked in the auto body business and during the time he spent in Florida he was employed at a marina. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard sales and trying his luck with scratch tickets.
Members of his family include two daughters, Tammy Marsh and her husband, Richard, Newport, NH; Jamie Vaine and her husband, Thomas, South Carolina, a step daughter, Shelley (Hayes) Dehne and her husband, Donald, Florida, a step son, Philip Hayes and his wife, Jeanette, Florida; four grandchildren, Richard Marsh, Matthew Marsh, Daniel Cera, Gabriel Cera , six step grandchildren, Misty Hayes, Tyson Hayes, Madeline Hayes, Clayton Dehne, Nick Dehne, Adam Hoffman, two brothers, Joseph Simoneau, Claremont, NH; Robert Simoneau and his wife, Gloria, Newport, NH; three sisters, Angelina Desilets, Claremont, NH; Joanne Greenwood, Charlestown, NH; Anna Hayes and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Ivan Simoneau, Jr. and a sister, Maryanne LeBlanc.
