Harold F. Bartley, 91, of Whitcher Road in Newport, NH, died Monday (March 13, 2017) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct., VT, following a period of failing health.
He was born in South Reading, VT, on January 15, 1926, the son of Viola Grave Bartley and had been a longtime area resident. Harold was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in WWII. He had been employed as a mechanic by John English Motors in Massachusetts and Paul Thibault in Claremont, NH. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, going to auctions, boxing and keeping up to date on current events. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Newport, NH.
Members of his family include his former wife, Patricia Bartley, Newport, NH; five sons, Bruce Bartley, Charlestown, NH; Bryan Bartley, Newport, NH; Richard Thibault, MT; William Thibault, Bradford, NH; Thomas Thibault, MT; three daughters, Shawnee Caruso, St. Johnsbury, VT; Sherial Ramey, Salem, NH; Grace Allen, Unity, NH; many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on April 1, 2017 at the Lake Sunapee Baptist Church, 322 North Main Street, Newport, NH.
Committal Services with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Main Street, Claremont, NH.
